Pedicures are a special kind of luxury, but as we get older, taking regular care of our toes becomes more of a necessity. These ‘luxurious necessities’ can become costly, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the same perks of a pedicure - at home!
Like all things, it’s best to be prepared for your at-home pedicure endeavor: the next time you’re at Target (or having your Target shopping list delivered safely to your home), make sure your cart includes one bottle of acetone nail polish remover, a bottle or two of a professional-quality nail polish (like OPI or Essie), a moisturizing foot cream like Burt’s Bees, and some lavender-scented Epsom Salts or foot soak crystals.
And, try incorporating an electric nail file - like the Bellasonic 4-in-1 Electric Nail File Set - into your at-home nail routine as well! It’s a multi-purpose electric nail tool that will trim, shape, smooth, and buff your nails just as good as you’d get at the salon.
If you haven’t made pedicures a regular part of your routine, then consider the list below of our Top 5 At-Home Pedicure Perks for older women.
Perk #1: Careful, consistent clipping!
As we get older, our toenails can grow thicker – and quicker – than before, so regular clipping and trimming can help to keep our toenails at a healthy, safe length. The unique design and movements of the Bellasonic 4-in-1 Electric Nail File Set actually prevents the burns and injuries you can get from other electric nail files, so it’s safe to use on even the most delicate skin.
Normal nail files and clippers can cause breakage and splitting of nails if used incorrectly. A few swipes with the Bellasonic will give you a gentle yet effective trim to your toenails, and it won’t split or break your nails like other harsher nail files can do. Just remember to replace the discs every 3 months or so!
Perk #2: Professional-quality products are available outside of a salon!
Professional-quality nail products are available everywhere these days, so you can easily bring the salon into your own home. Find them at mass-market retail stores like Target, Wal-Mart, and CVS, and specialty beauty stores like Ulta or Sally Beauty. Mauves, pinks, nudes, and corals are great go-to colors for ‘older women’ - so save the trendier products (like blues, greens, gels, or glitter) for the younger generation.
Invest in a few good hand and foot creams, cuticle oils, and nail polishes. And, since everyone has learned how to shop-from-home this year, you can rest assured knowing that your products will be delivered safe, sound, and sanitized.
Perk #3: A little TLC for our tired feet!
By the time we hit our 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s, we’ve spent a huge chunk of our life on our feet - and trust us when we say they’re tired!
So slow down, take a seat, and recreate the best part of the pedicure experience from the comfort of your home. Start by filling a large plastic tub with warm water. Drop in a handful of scented bath crystals or Epsom Salts, stir gently, and then sit back and soak for at least 20 minutes. Epsom salts can not only help eliminate foot odors and treat infections, but they act as fantastic exfoliants for your feet as well. Once your feet are soaked and dry, use the Bellasonic’s Smoothing Disc to help you say good-bye to your rough patches, corns, and calluses.
Don’t forget to put the technology down while you soak! Your eyes need a break just as much as your feet do.
Perk #4: The ripple effect of an at-home manicure!
Let’s face it: once we start working on our feet, we’re bound to want to start working on our fingernails. Check out this link to learn the 8 simple steps to the perfect at-home manicure here. You may have to get strategic with your timing, so remember to remove all polish at the same time, soak your feet while using the Bellasonic on your fingernails, and paint all of your nails at the same time.
Perk #5: That sense of accomplishment that comes with taking care of ourselves!
In today’s world, it’s easy to focus on things that need to get done: grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning, completing a project, paying bills... Life has a never-ending laundry list of tasks to be completed. Make self-care an item you can easily and regularly check off your list!
When you pamper yourself with an at-home pedicure, you’re actually attending to a number of needs that you may tend to overlook. Turning off your tech and opening up a book gives your eyes and brain a break. Soaking your feet and lighting a candle nearby provides calming and rejuvenating aromatherapy benefits. Trimming, shaping, and buffing your nails and skin with the Bellasonic 4-in-1 Electric Nail File helps keep your nails healthy. And looking at your perfectly-polished toes can help remind you of how good it looks (and feels!) when you give yourself the TLC you deserve.
It’s natural that some of us may start to slow down as we get older, but taking care of ourselves doesn’t have to! Skip the salon and add at-home pedicures to your regular beauty routine. Your toes (and your wallet) will thank you!

We’ve all had to ‘touch up’ our nails at home a few minutes before a date, a night out, an interview, or even in between manicures. But the ‘real’ manicure experience lasts at least an hour, so when it comes to giving yourself a top-notch manicure at home, remember to prep your space, light a candle, shut your door, turn on some music, and set aside some time to devote to you.
Before we begin, though, we’d like to introduce you to the Bellasonic 4-in-1 Electric Nail File Set. It’s the ultimate at-home nail care tool, and its unique design and technology makes it one of the easiest ways to give you professionally-manicured nails from the comfort of your own home. Each Bellasonic Electric Nail File comes with 4 individual discs designed to smooth, shape, buff, and shine your nails...and to us, fewer tools + outstanding results = real satisfaction.
Are you ready to get started? We hope so! Here’s a list of the things you’ll need:
Step 1: Prep your space!
We mean it when we say this: the ultimate manicure experience is only as good as you make it! Manicures are meant to be relaxing, peaceful, and enjoyable. So set your timer for at least an hour (yes, an hour!). Find a comfy chair and a solid table to work on. Turn on one of your favorite playlists. Shut your door. And get all of your supplies ready. There’s nothing worse than having to look for something after you’ve gotten started. Your favorite nail salon treats like the queen you are, and part of that means they have everything ready to go. Do the same for yourself, even when you’re at home!
Step 2: Remove all old polish with an acetone nail polish remover.
Some of us prefer pure acetone, and some of us prefer gentler acetone. The choice is yours, but remember, pure acetone is stronger because it’s more abrasive. It gets the job done faster and it seriously helps to remove stubborn polish (or gel, or acrylics), but it dries your nails and skin more than gentler polish removers. Pick whatever one you want to work with. The important part is that you thoroughly clean your nail bed. Even if you aren’t wearing any polish, swipe your nails a few times with a remover to get them squeaky-clean!
Step 3: Soak them in a bowl of warm, soapy water.
You only need to do this for a few minutes, but it helps to remove excess dirt or oil from your fingers and nails. It also softens your skin and cuticles, making them easier to work with. So soak away for a few minutes, and then pat dry with your hand towel.
Step 4: Treat those cuticles.
Now that your skin is softened, use your cuticle oil to give them an extra boost of moisture. Remember: your cuticles protect your nails, so don’t get rid of them! Use a cuticle stick to gently push them back to the base of your nail bed. If you’re a pro, feel free to trim the excess. If you’re not experienced with cuticle trimmers, though, stick with your cuticle stick. And don’t worry: you can use the Bellasonic 4-in-1 a little later to buff away anything you missed.
Step 5: Trim (or clip) your nails into your desired shape.
Use your nail clippers to clip your nails, if needed. Otherwise, get started on trimming your nails into your preferred shape. Use the Bellasonic’s Shaping disc instead of a standard nail file; the Bellasonic trims and shapes your nails more precisely than other nail files out there. While it’s usually best to file your nails in only one direction, feel free to move back and forth when using the Bellasonic. It’s designed to prevent the damage or burning that other nail tools can cause.
Step 6: Go smooth or go home!
Now that your nails are shaped, use the Bellasonic Smoothing Disc along the edges of your nails to fine-tune your shape. The Smoothing Disc can also be used over callused skin - it’s gentle enough, but still powerful.
After smoothing, use the Bellasonic Buffing Disc to buff the top of your nail beds and any excess cuticle. You’ve already pushed back your cuticles, so use the buffing disc on the stubborn bits and pieces that wouldn’t budge or that you weren’t able to trim. A few swipes with the Buffing Disc over the tops of your nail beds will remove any ridges or imperfections, putting your nails in perfect condition for polish.
Step 7: Polish, polish, polish (base, color, top).
The best things come in threes, and so should your polish: use a base coat first to protect your nail and to give your color something to cling to. Let your base coat dry for 1-2 minutes, then apply your first top coat. Three swipes of polish is key - you don’t want to overdo it or your polish can end up too thick. Let your first coat of polish dry for 1-2 minutes, then apply your second. We recommend letting your color dry for at least 5 minutes before applying your top coat.
Step 8: Look, but don’t touch!
This is one of the most crucial steps in your ultimate manicure experience: don’t touch a thing! Sit still and let yourself relax as you let your polish dry. Turn up your music, scroll through your newsfeed - but be careful when double-tapping! - or put on an eye mask and lie down for 15 minutes. The point is that you refrain from moving around. Remember: your polish is still wet and even the smallest movements can cause it to smudge. So sit still!
Feel free to stick your fingers in front of a fan for a few minutes (fingers pointed down), or stick them into a bowl of ice water. If neither of those are handy, then sit back, relax, and enjoy the final moments of your ultimate manicure experience! There’s nothing worse than smudging a just-polished nail, especially after you’ve taken so much time to get them into tip-top shape.
Once your polish is set, you’re good to go- so clean up your supplies, turn off your music, blow out your candle, and carry on with your day. But don’t forget to leave yourself a tip before you walk out the door...because as far as at-home manicures go, you just nailed it.
]]>Everyone can recognize the signs of autumn approaching: the foliage starts changing colors, the days get shorter, the air gets cooler, and our outfits get more layered. We swap our dewy and colorful makeup palettes for more muted and matte colors. Some of us dye our hair a few shades darker. Many of us pull out our boots, scarves, and wool socks. There are an endless amount of fall ‘trends’ that everyone tends to follow. They might look a little 'basic,' but fall is comfortable, reliable, and familiar - no wonder it's considered such a cozy season.
But the year is 2020, and let’s face it: absolutely nothing is going as planned, and nothing is what it used to be! So when it comes to your fall manicure routine, consider mixing it up this year. There are no rules or regulations in 2020 (except wearing your mask!), so don’t be afraid to try out some of the newest – and most unexpected – nail trends we’ll be seeing this season:
Multi-colored French Tips:
This is not your mother’s French manicure! One of our favorite up-and-coming styles is the multi-colored French manicure. Summer was the season of long, colorful acrylics and gels, but for fall, consider going with a shorter nail length and varying the colored tips you choose. A neutral nail bed goes great with any color palette: maybe reds, browns, burgundies, nudes, and creams, OR yellows, pinks, greens, teals, and violets. It’s a little class with a lot of sass.
If you wear acrylics, ask your nail tech to go short and rounded for a more natural shape to get in line with the more subdued nature of the fall season. If you’re unable to hit the salons, though, try using an electric nail tool like the Bellasonic 4-in-1 Electric Nail File Set to give you a professional-quality manicure at home. Each Bellasonic comes with 4 discs that are each designed to smooth, shape, buff, and shine your way to a professional-quality manicure at home!
Animal Print or Geometric Design:
This summer, one of our favorite nail icons, Kylie Jenner, was spotted wearing a ‘mismatched’ manicure, and we were huge fans of her animal print design. Use a natural nude as the base color and then top it with brown, black, or burgundy animal print patches. The color palette works great for the fall season...just picture how cute it will look with your cable-knit sweaters and pumpkin spiced coffee.
For the geometric look, try using a deeper hue for your base (like forest green, matte black, or deep purple). Use bright contrasting colors like silver or gold for the lines and shapes. The geometric look is all about the severity of your shapes, so make sure you’re using the right tools and stickers to get you the lines you’re looking for!
Chromatic & Metallic Nails:
This fall trend might just be our favorite. Chrome nails are going to be big this fall, and we couldn’t be bigger fans. Whether you’re trying to look savage, classy, bougey, cute, or sassy, a solid chrome polish will stand out on its own, without the need of any glitter, design, or tips. Since your fall wardrobe is likely composed of more muted and tonal colors, a pop of metallic color on your nails can be the best (and most unexpected!) accessory. We’re like silvers, burnt oranges, and burgundies the best.
Negative Space Nails:
The negative space nail trend is one of the most unique nail trends to hit the scenes for Fall 2020, but as minimalist as it may seem, it’s also unusually elegant. Think of it as a blend between multi-colored French tips and animal print: it’s basically a neutral nail bed ‘bordered’ by thin ribbons of color. If you’re feeling bold, try ‘blotting’ the edges of your nails with a bright yellow or orange. If you’re feeling more subdued, contrast the nude nail with a deep purple or candy apple red. You might be surprised by how pretty your nails look and feel with a little burst of color. There’s nothing negative about this style!
We’ve shown you just a few of the major nail trends you’ll be seeing this fall. Yes, they’re unexpected, atypical, and a little unusual when compared to the more typical trends we all know and love. But like we said: nothing about 2020 has been typical. So if you want to mix up your fall nail routine, have at it! You can still incorporate an autumnal color palette – think burgundies, greens, grays, reds, browns, and oranges – but with a 2020 twist.
And keep in mind: if you’re still having trouble getting an appointment at the salon, there are plenty of at-home products, tools, and kits you can use in the safety of your own home. Search your favorite online retailers for cuticle oils, polish removers, gels, acrylic kits, and electric nail files like the Bellasonic 4-in-1 Electric Nail File Set. Its unique movements actually reduce the damage or injuries that other electric nail tools can cause, and each of its 4 discs is designed to smooth, shape, buff, or shine your nails with professional quality.
And, if you’re really missing ‘the way things were,’ don’t be afraid to stick to your favorite fall nail trends. If solid swipes of reds, browns, and neutrals are what you normally wear during the fall, we encourage you to wear whatever makes you feel those warm-and-fuzzies that fall tends to bring.
In a year where absolutely everything has been altered and changed, it’s kind of nice to count on the things we know and love. Just imagine if Starbucks didn’t roll out the Pumpkin Spice Latte this year...could we even really say then that it’s fall?
]]>If you’ve ever found yourself realizing that ‘‘too much of a good thing” can be bad, you’re not alone. We’ve all been there - overindulging in shopping, exercising, eating, drinking, romancing, or binge-watching our favorite guilty pleasures on Netflix. We find something we like and dive headfirst into it, turning it into a habit that becomes hard to break. Time passes, money is spent, nights are wasted, and eventually, we decide to take a break and get ‘into recovery.’
Recovery, of course, is characterized as being a period of removal, reflection, and resurgence. It’s a time to ‘give ourselves a break’ from a habit or behavior that might be doing more harm than good. It’s time to turn off the TV, take a break from the bars and clubs, try out a new diet & exercise regime, or delete all our old photos from an ended relationship.
The purpose behind recovery is ultimately healing - and now and then, your nails deserve a little healing time, too.
When acrylics and gel polish hit the nail salon scene, they offered women a chance to have long, glossy, and hard-as-rocks nails every day of the week. If length is what you were lacking, acrylics were the answer. If your polish was prone to chipping, gel polish was the solution. When it comes to your nails, nothing beats the longevity and luster of acrylics or gel polish. But regularly applying, curing, or changing gel polish or acrylics can do some serious wear and tear on your nails, especially when it comes to the removal process.
First, Cut Off Any Extra Length of Your Acrylics.
Use a nail clipper to remove the excess length of your acrylics. Cut them down as much as you can, so that they just extend beyond the tip of your natural nail.
Next, File Away the Top Layer of Your Gel or Polish.
It’s important to file away the shiny, top coat of your polish. This allows your acetone nail polish remover to soak in and soften the remaining product. Use a hand nail file or electric filing tool, like the Bellasonic 4-in-1 Electric Nail File Set, to gently and precisely buff away the top layer of your polish. Once your nails look matte (and a little dusty!), move on to the next step.
Soak Your Nails with Pure Acetone, Cotton, and Foil.
This step is where the magic happens. Soak a cotton ball or pad in 100% pure acetone nail polish remover and put one on each of your nails. Wrap each of your nails in foil and let them soak anywhere from 15-20 minutes. The acetone helps to soften the product so that when you remove the foil - voila! your acrylic or gel polish is ready to be removed with a cuticle stick. Be sure to gently push the material away, rather than scrape!
Finally, Gently Buff Away Excess Product and Apply Cuticle Oil!
The step above should take care of most, if not all, of the acrylic or gel polish. But if there’s any stubborn product left over, the Bellasonic 4-in-1 Electric Nail File Set can help gently remove what’s left. It’s unique oscillating movement is designed to help reduce any of the burning or damaging effects that other electric nail tools can cause while buffing. Once your nails are clean and good-to-go, apply that cuticle oil! Be generous with your product, and be sure to rub it in. This is a step you cannot skip!
NOW THAT YOUR NAILS HAVE BEEN SAFELY ‘DETOXED,’ IT’S TIME TO GIVE THEM A LITTLE TIME TO BREATHE.
Continue to apply cuticle oil a few times a day for the next several days, and put the polish, gel, and acrylic powder on the back-burner. It may not seem like it, but your nails have been through a lot. They now need a chance to recover.
Naked nails don’t have to be unsightly, though: there are plenty of products available that can give your natural nails a freshly-manicured look.
The Bellasonic 4-in-1 Electric Nail File Set is a great go-to tool for expertly trimming, shaping, buffing, and shining your nails. It comes with 4 separate, professional-quality discs that can shape your nails, buff away your cuticles, smooth out uneven texture, and leave them with a visible shine...all without applying a single product!
There’s nothing wrong with going au naturale every once in a while. Experts recommend letting your nails ‘breathe’ for a few days in between manicures and treatments. Removing acrylics and gel polish can be abrasive, even if done correctly, so it’s important to help your nails as much as you can in their recovery process.
Since your cuticles are the source of your nail growth, remember to keep them moisturized, healthy, and free of product and material. There are tons of professional-quality cuticle oils and creams available online that can give your nails the boost they need while recovering from gel polish or acrylic nails. And, if you apply a clear top-coat, you might find it easier to go a few extra days without running back to the salon. A few swipes with each of the Bellasonic discs can give your nails a professionally-manicured look without ever having to step foot in a salon.
There’s nothing wrong with a little recovery every now and then. In fact, ‘taking a break’ or ‘getting on the wagon’ can often leave us feeling like a weight has been taken off our shoulders. Don’t be afraid to take the weight off of your nails, either! And when you do, treat your nail recovery process just as important as you do your acrylics or nail polish. There’s no such thing as ‘too much of a good thing’ when it comes to the care and keeping of you.
The millennial generation is known for many things (good and bad), but one thing they’re great at doing is trying something new. For millennials, if the shoe doesn’t fit, they make a new one. And when it comes to nail colors, polishes, and styles, they are leading the way with innovative, unique, and influential designs.
Gone are the days of French manicures or nude, natural nails. Millennials are paving the way with colorful acrylics, ombre accents, and all-new techniques. Kylie Jenner, Nicki Minaj, Billie Eilish, and Cardi B are well-known acrylic aficionados, but they have professionals waiting on them hand and foot to help. We can’t all live in the lap of luxury as they do, but the good news is that if you want to try your hand at sporting a new, stylish set of nails every few weeks as they do, you can. And you don’t have to break the bank - or damage your own nails - to do so!
The internet is the best-kept resource for new and inspiring nail designs and inspiration. But the social media mega-giant TikTok is also paving the way with its endless array of tutorials. In true millennial fashion, TikTok videos are quick, to-the-point, and easy to move from one onto the next. Some of the newest nail techniques to hit the TIk Tok airwaves are listed below, but the best part is that TikTok also has tons of useful, efficient videos dedicated to taking off your newest nail design (just like the professionals do).
Keep in mind that electric nail tools like the Bellasonic 4-in-1 Electric Nail File Set can safely and powerfully buff, shape, and trim your nails and cuticles once the acrylics and gel polish are off. It can even help you out in the removal process by gently buffing away any product leftover on your nails. It’s an all-in-one tool to clean and prep your nails whether you’re taking polish off, or preparing to put it on.
So, get your fingers ready for some of the latest trends hitting social media these days:
Color Blocking:
Remember the days when you used to paint each one of your nails a separate color? Well, those days are back. Color blocking your nails has become a trend again, and celebrities and influencers alike are rocking bright, colorful nails - one per finger. What might have looked mismatched years ago is now a trend. Leave it to the millennials to bring back something from their childhood and make it popular again! Just grab a few of your favorite polishes, paint one color on each nail, and voila!
Ombre Nails:
The most popular hair trend of the last few years has infiltrated the nail polish scene, but these days, the effect doesn’t have to be gradual. Get your creative juices flowing and go for some colorful shock-value by ombre-ing your nails from white to black, or pink to yellow! The combinations are endless, because these days, there are no rules when it comes to beauty.
Slickpour:
Slickpouring is one of the most popular trends on Tik Tok when it comes to nail art design. It’s basically perfecting a ‘bead’ of acrylic powder and then letting it ooze its way over your nail bed. This skill takes plenty of practice (as well as precision) but there are an endless number of videos online for you to get inspiration from. Glitter is also making an extraordinary comeback when it comes to nails, and with the slickpour technique, you can get the smoothest glitter-based nail without all pesty, textury feel.
These are only a few of the latest trends to hit the Tik Tok airwaves, but they all share the same idea: in today’s beauty world, there are no rules. Millennials (and even the Gen Z’ers) have proven that! Your nails don’t need to match your makeup, your clothes, or even each other. You can explore your creativity to your heart’s content because TikTok is also full of videos on how to safely and expertly remove your nail designs.
The most important thing to keep in mind when it comes to changing up your nail design is the care you give them when you’re removing polish or taking off acrylic. If you’re changing your nails as often as you’re changing your jobs, boyfriends, or profile pictures, make sure to treat them with some TLC when doing so. And don’t be afraid to ‘go bare’ every now and then! The Bellasonic 4-in-1 Electric Nail File Set is a fantastic tool that can trim, shape, smooth, buff, and shine your nails without a single drop of nail polish.
Pure acetone nail polish remover is the most efficient method of softening acrylics and removing gel polish, but it can also be hard on your nails. Salon-quality buffers can also damage your nails or cuticles if overdone (think of how many times you’ve been nicked at the nail salon!). Bellasonic uses patented design technology to control pressure and movement, which means it’s less damaging and safer to use than other electric nail files out there. The kit comes complete with 4 discs, each designed to shape, smooth, buff, or shine your nails.
So once the gel, acrylic, polish, glitter, netting, crystals, and base coat are off, you can safely, precisely, and powerfully shape, smooth, and buff your nails into tip-top condition. The shining disc alone will leave your nails with a visible shine that could even pass for a top-coat!
Millennials have gotten a bad rap over the years, but one thing they’ve proven is that there is no ‘right’ way to do anything. They’re all about taking the road less traveled, altering the landscape, pushing the boundaries of what is expected, and making something ‘their own.’ Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but it’s also in the eye of the controller. You can be your own manicurist today with an endless supply of online tools, kits, products, tutorials, and techniques.
Let Bellasonic help you move from trend to trend, polish to polish, and style to style. You’ll notice the quality of your nails improve with every swipe of its patented movement and technology. And, on your polish-free days, you might even forget that you haven’t had a manicure in quite a while!
]]>You can tell a lot about a woman by her nails and her hands, and in Scarlett O’ Hara’s case, working the land and running a household has had some unwanted effects. They used to be soft and delicate, and now they are worn and dry. Younger girls today might not have to ‘work the land,’ but they also may not realize that as they get older, their hands and nails aren’t quite as strong, soft, or flexible as they used to be!
The country isn’t suffering through a Civil War today, but it is suffering through a pandemic. Even though nail salons across the country have shut their doors, it doesn’t mean your nails have to suffer. There are plenty of at-home tools, like the Bellasonic 4-in-1 Electric Nail File Set, that can give you the manicure you’re looking for and that are gentle, safe, and effective on nails of all ages.
When we’re older, our cuticles and our nail beds weaken. Our skin becomes more delicate and a little spotty. Our joints and muscles lose their strength and flexibility. Once upon a time it was easy to meticulously apply nail polish or get to the salons for regular manicures. But shaking hands, weaker muscles, older age, and the COVID-19 pandemic have certainly got in the way of being able to take regular care of our nails.
If you can’t get to the nail salon anytime soon, there are still plenty of products available that can bide your time until you do. And many of those products are designed for older women who have to take extra-special care of their skin and nails.
Here are a few ‘symptoms’ of older age, as seen in our hands and nails:
Shaking/Trembling Hands:
As we age, our muscles naturally weaken and we can begin to develop 'tremors.' We can see this ourselves when we try to carefully hold a cup of coffee. Anxiety, stress, caffeine, and medication can contribute to these tremors, but it's also a very natural part of life. The precision and stillness required to paint our own nails becomes almost impossible. Clipping our nails becomes more challenging too: even though nail clippers are small, their blades are sharp and potentially dangerous for aging skin.
Electric nail tools like the Bellasonic 4-in-1 Electric Nail File Set is easy to use, as it does the 'moving' for us. It's unique design also minimizes burns and damage that other electric nail tools can cause. Bellasonic does the ‘moving’ for you, and if it accidentally hits your skin, don’t worry! It’s unique technology is designed to be safer than other electric nail files out there.
Limited Strength & Arthritis:
Aging can also weaken our muscles and joints, which makes wrapping our fingers around a nail file much harder. The parts of our body that used to bend easily start to stiffen more and more. Pinching our fingers around a bottle of nail polish or tightly gripping a nail file can become much more difficult! This is why manicurists and nail salons become much more of a necessity rather than a luxury as we age. We might not be able to apply color to our nails like we used to, but we can still keep them trimmed, shaped, and shiny from home!
The Bellasonic 4-in-1 file comes with 4 different discs, each designed to shape, smooth, buff, or shine your nails. You will be amazed by how clean, shapely, and shiny your nails will be after a few minutes with the Bellasonic. And the best part is that it does all the work for you! The wand is easy-to-grip, too. The only thing you have to do is turn it on with the simple push of a button.
Delicate Skin & Age Spots:
Another characteristic of aging can be seen quite clearly in our skin, as it can become thinner, more translucent, and prone to dark-colored 'age spots.' Thinner skin means it can be more prone to cuts, bruises, and burns, and when we’re older, those take a longer time to heal and are far more of a nuisance to deal with. Nail technicians need to take extra care when working with an older client. But since most nail salons aren't open, we can still take matters into our own hands with gentle yet effective products: think ultra-moisturizing hand creams, gentle cuticle oils and orange sticks, and safer electric nail tools like Bellasonic's 4-in-1 Electric Nail File. A few swipes with the Bellasonic can trim, shape, or buff our nails (and gently too, with its unique design technology) until we can get back into the nail salon.
Let’s face it: nobody wants to get older. But getting older also means that we have lived a long life. Like Scarlett O’Hara, we have survived, and we have thrived! Even though the COVID-19 pandemic has made it harder to get our groceries, go shopping, or see our family and friends, we have adapted (just like Scarlett). We can now have our groceries delivered. We can visit with our family and friends on Facetime. And we can use online retailers to order whatever it is we need - from the safety and comfort of our own homes.
While we might not be able to schedule our next manicure, we can still take regular care of our nails. There are an endless amount of nude nail colors, hand creams, and manicurist tools available online, including the Bellasonic 4-in-1 Electric Nail File Set. You might be surprised by how great your nails turn out. Not even Rhett Butler would guess that you haven’t been to a nail salon in months!
]]>Eat A Healthy Varied Diet
Just as with your skin and hair, what you eat can also affect your nails. You can up your intake of protein (pork, broccoli, and lentils), biotin (eggs, salmon, almonds, peanuts), zinc (green beans, shellfish, cashews), and iron (beef, spinach, kale) for better nails.
Also, a recent Dutch study showed improvement in nail growth among subjects who maintained an organic, minimally processed diet. So skip the snack and sugar where you can.
Biotin Supplement
Your nails are one of the first places to show signs of nutritional deficiencies. Biotin has been shown to be helpful for strengthening and growing your nails. Biotin is a water-soluble vitamin B coenzyme. You can add a biotin supplement to your daily routine at the recommended dosage of 2000-3000 micrograms. Many multivitamins contain biotin already so check your labels and if you need more micrograms opt for a specific biotin supplement. Nails grow slowly so it will take about 4 months to see biotin benefits on your fingernails and 9 months for toenails.
Wear Gloves
One simple way to keep your nails healthy and your nails looking flawless is to wear gloves when cleaning! House cleaning chemicals remove oil, grime, and dirt but do a number to your nails and hands. Rubber gloves work so pick some up on your next Target run.
Perform Regular Manicures
Manicures remove rough, dry edges of cuticles and nails that tend to get caught on things and provide further damage or irritation. Like we needed to give you a reason to pamper yourself!
Exfoliate Your Nails
Buff on the surface of your nails in gentle circular motions to smooth and brighten beds. But—in the same way, that you don't want to over-exfoliate your skin—you should buff only once a week. Bellasonic’s unique oscillating discs provide this exact movement without damaging your nails and keeps them strong.
Moisturize Your Nails & Cuticles
Treat your nails like you would your hair and indulge them in plenty of moisture. Also, a big DIY manicure don’t is pushing your cuticles back and cutting them. Your cuticles are essential in protecting your growing nails from bacteria and germs entering your body that can cause infection. Bellasonic gently removes excess skin and keeps your cuticles in tip-top shape. Use a daily hand cream and regularly use cuticle oil.
Avoid Nail Polish Remover & Hand Sanitizers That Contain Alcohol
Try to avoid using nail polish remover more than once a week. They are bad news for your nails. Use a great topcoat every other day to prevent chipping and make your manicure last longer.
Right now it is super important to wash and clean your hands and yes hand sanitizer is an easy alternative but oh so drying if there is alcohol in the ingredients. Try your best to wash your hands with soap and water and use your moisturizing hand cream and cuticle oil often!
The Rule of Five
Five days on, five days off. This is one of the best ways to maintain healthy nails. Wear polish for five days and then take five days off. Scared to go polish-free? Bellasonic’s advanced nail grooming system has a shinning disc to give your natural nails the shine and confidence to go bare.
Save Professional Mani & Pedis for Special Occasions
Overdoing it on professional manicures and pedicures can lead to dry and brittle nails. Giving yourself an at-home dry mani/pedi will give you all the benefits of beautiful nails without the water stresses from the salon. Plus! Dry manicures can lead to less polish chipping! Bellasonic is one easy tool to give you salon-quality results at home without the salon damage.

Navigating Nail Shapes
When you walk into a manicurist you're typically overwhelmed with the number of choices you need to make all at once. From the type of manicure you are looking for to the choice in color, nail decisions can change the way your hands look completely. Nail shapes, however, are overlooked more often. It has always been a common theme to choose square or oval-shaped nails. There was no serious thought of what nail shapes could say about you. In today's beauty industry we have revolutionized the meaning behind nail shapes entirely.
Nowadays people are more prone to choosing an appropriate nail shape that matches their personality. Choosing the right type can make a statement and say something about you. Because of the current pandemic, it has been quite the struggle in keeping our nails maintained. Nail salons all over are closed and we find ourselves in a pinch because of it. Luckily, there is an impressive solution. In the world of DIY, doing your nails has become an incredible trend. With the help of the Bellasonic 4-in-1 Rechargeable Electric Nail File, you can get those salon-inspired nails you've been missing out on.
Gel & Acrylic Nails
If the last time you had your nails done you chose gel or acrylic and find yourself frustrated with the recovery process, you're in luck. The BellaSonic 4- in-1 Rechargeable Electric Nail File has unique oscillating head technology that avoids using heat and friction/ one direction spinning that damages nails. This technology helps repair nail damage that has been caused by acrylics/gel much quicker.
How to Pick
The main factors to look out for include: your nail bed width, nail length, and finger shape. If you have shorter fingers you may want to keep your nails longer so that it slims out your hands. If you have long slender fingers it may be best to choose wider, medium-length shapes.
What Your Nail Shape Says About You
Square- Square nails depict a more serious tone out of all the nail shapes. Square nails are classic and elegant. If you are someone with a narrow nail bed and slim fingers, this shape is best for you. With the Bellasonic 4-in1 Electric Nail File, getting a perfect square shape is easy and quick for home nail care.
Square with Round Corners- We love this slight adjustment to the seriousness of the square shape and it is great for people with small children to not snag and scratch those chubby cheeks.
Squoval- Squoval is a very popular shape that combines the straight lines of the square with a rounded top of the oval shape. The type of person that gravitates towards this shape enjoys looking polished and will typically add an awesome design on a finger or two to make their nails pop!
Oval- Oval is like the pearl necklace of the nail shape world. They exert power and elegance. They are a classy and timeless shape and is one of the easiest shapes to create. Oval is great because it works for people with short nails or long nails. It is a more versatile choice.
Almond- Almond nails are chic and trendy. It says you are a person who is adventurous and ready to go on any occasion. It is a sexy nail shape that works for people who don't like the complete rounded nail but also like the slender aspect of it. This shape suits people that have slender long fingers.
Stiletto- Stiletto nails make a bold statement. It shows that you are confident and unapologetically you. They are a fun and unique way of exuding sex appeal. They are long, pointy, and all about the drama. This is a perfect style for people who want to show off their daring style. They are like a fashion accessory and are perfect for finalizing a creative outfit.
Coffin- Coffin nails are a strong nail shape choice and are also called ballerina shape. Because this shape is a lot about length, you can capitalize on that by adding unique patterns or designs. This style is best for people who enjoy longer nails and don't get bothered by them. They are stylish and have enough space to enhance the nail with a myriad of gems and rhinestones.
Other shapes to experiment with are Trapeze, Edge, Lipstick, & Pointed. The great thing about nail shaping is that you can try them all because your nails will always be growing.

When Bellasonic launched right before the holidays, founder Reuben Driggers could hardly contain his excitement. The brand’s only product, a unique electric nail file, was the perfect stocking stuffer for beauty lovers everywhere—or so he thought.
But Santa Claus didn’t stick Bellasonic in stockings as he carried out his Yuletide duties. The brand only generated a handful of sales in its first few weeks. Driggers says, “You can create the best product out there, but, if you can’t get it in front of the right audience, it goes nowhere.” He tried to build an audience with influencer collaborations, but they fell flat.
Driggers, a beauty industry veteran who’s worked at Revlon and American International Industries, was frustrated. Despite his frustration, he remained convinced Bellasonic’s electric nail file would be a game changer for beauty consumers, if they’d just give it a shot. The coronavirus has provided them impetus to do so. With people largely sticking inside, it’s changed beauty routines by forcing those used to frequenting nail and hair salons to tend to their hair and nails at home.
Bellasonic’s electric nail file, which promises to deliver professional-level buffing, has promptly been integrated into self-taught manicurists’ nail maintenance. “The acrylic and gel crowd really embraced it,” says Driggers, adding, “I went from begging everyone and their mom to try it to suddenly having people like Sophie Uliano contact me saying she loved it and doing unsolicited Stories on her IG.”
Driggers spent more than a decade developing the file and searching for a partner to fund his project. Its unique technology encompasses an oscillating head with a flat disc that Driggers says sets it apart from traditional spinning files. The product also comes with four interchangeable discs each with functions such as shaping, smoothing, buffing and shining, a USB charger and storage cradle. It’s priced at $79.95 on Amazon.
Driggers explains, “Bellasonic is designed for precise grooming of nails, cuticles and surrounding skin while eliminating the burning sensation often caused by other options on the market.” He points out the electric file is helpful for people with arthritis or mobility issues. He’s received good customer feedback from individuals unable to bend over and reach their feet.
______
“With everyone on lockdown at home, people are trying our file, and our revenue has gone up exponentially.”
______
Between Driggers and his two business partners, Joseph Millin and Scott Weiss of Jocott Brands, $100,000 was invested to bring the product to life. Formed in 2009, Jocott Brands is a holding company with a number of niche beauty brands in its portfolio, including Argan Magic, Clean Beauty, Oliology, Valjean Labs, 40 Carrot and Coop+Daisy.
“I’ve always been obsessed with nail grooming and felt there was a white space in the tool category,” says Driggers. “There has been virtually no innovation when it comes to electric files. I lost track of how many prototypes I designed, but I convinced Joe [Millin] this would be revolutionary.”
Over the last several years, Driggers has been in talks with home shopping networks for distribution. His original strategy was to debut Bellasonic on one of the networks because he’s confident it will do well once demonstrated on air. Unfortunately, the talks have yet to produce results. Continuously facing setbacks, he considered throwing in the towel, but he’d poured so much time, money and emotional energy into the electric file that he couldn’t allow himself to give up.
“There were so many times I came close to a partnership, but then something would happen to derail it,” says Driggers. “Entrepreneurship is extremely unpredictable, and anything can happen.”
That anything turned out to be a pandemic. People he’d given the product to back in November and December have finally picked it up in the last month. As other brands are experiencing dips in sales during the COVID-19 crisis, Bellasonic is experiencing the opposite. “With everyone on lockdown at home, people are trying our file, and our revenue has gone up exponentially,” says Driggers. He specifies Bellasonic’s sales tripled in the last two weeks of March and tripled again in the first two weeks of April, and anticipates the brand’s sales will surpass $1 million this year. Next year, Bellasonic’s goal is to reach $10 million in sales. Driggers is still in talks with shopping channels.
Quick to emphasize he would rather Bellasonic’s sales spike as a result of positive global events, he’s glad it has gotten consideration nonetheless. “I never thought the virus would be the traction that would give our brand its boost, but that’s what happened,” says Driggers. “Helping people with self-care feels good, but helping people with functions they’d otherwise need another person to do and now can’t because of social distancing, that makes it more than a beauty product. It makes the last 10 years of work worth it.”
]]>Every woman wants flawless nails and beautiful feet. According to Nails Magazine, the size of the US nail salon services market is over $8 billion! Many, however, do choose to groom their own nails at home because it is more practical, convenient and fewer salon visits can be a huge cost savings. The perfect manicure/pedicure can be time consuming and may require many tools that are not always user-friendly.
For over 60 years, women have sought an all-in-one powered grooming tool for a faster and easier manicure at home. Modern interpretations of the originals are plentiful, but they don’t usually work that well. Rotary disks and drums that spin rapidly in one direction can create intense heat from friction that can burn and cause damage when not used properly. They are rough on the nails and cuticles and are difficult to control. Reciprocating disks that slide back and forth have little power and are simply glorified mini emery boards. The premium versions of these tools are more powerful, more expensive and they can cause more damage!
There is a market, though! Despite consumer disappointment with traditional electric nail files, the market for them still exists. Consumers really want this type of product to work. These ineffective products can be found today on the shelves of large retail stores, pharmacies, beauty suppliers as well as in the pages of techy specialty catalogs. Come Christmas time, they show up every year in stores as gift sets. The traditional electric nail file has been repeatedly repackaged with more pieces thrown into the kit, but they are essentially the same product that was launched decades ago.
Bellasonic is a revolutionary electric nail file…that works! The Bellasonic Advanced Nail Grooming System is the next generation electric nail grooming tool. It is different from all existing competitors in that its unique head oscillates back and forth rather than spinning continuously in one direction. The result is less heat caused by friction and gentler, more effective nail and cuticle grooming. The system includes four interchangeable discs of varying grit, a USB cable for its rechargeable battery and a storage cradle.
Flawless nails and beautiful feet can now be achieved at home with ease!
